Detail
An exact replica of the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver used during filming. All the materials, measurements and finishes have been referenced from the actual filming prop and it features all the same functions with thumb slider and LED light.
Just like the prop this replica has a working LED in the tip which is illuminated by a switch mounted on the slider, battery included.
These replicas are hand made by the Millennium FX team. There will be only 500 made and they will be sold on a strictly fist come first serve basis. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE MAKE A REPLICA OF THIS SONIC SCREWDRIVER so this is your one and only chance to own the most authentic and accurate replica of the Doctor's Sonic.
Due to the small size of these products they will not be individually numbered, but will carry an official BBC hologram on the accompanying replica authenticity card to certify they are genuine.

Your Sonic Questions Answered
Is it an exact replica sonic screwdriver?
This replica prop was built using the original prop as a guide. All the measurements, dimensions, materials and paints used are exact to the original filming prop used by David Tennant. Even the inner workings follow the exact same build technique as the original prop.
Where it differs is in some small areas where we have made its construction stronger by adding threaded joints rather than a glued joint. None of these minor variations in any way affect the aesthetic of the piece.
Will it be a working replica?
Yes, just like the original prop the neck will manually extend when using the thumb slider and the LED light works when you press the button on the slider. What it won’t do is unlock doors!
Does the replica have a sound effect?
No, there is no sound effect with this product.
Do you really make it yourselves?
Millennium FX manufactures these with the help of skilled specialist freelance artists and technicians we have engaged for this project.
Who made the original sonic?
There have been several prop makers who have produced various versions of the sonic screwdriver in the “Doctor Who” art departments’ in-house prop workshop. Predominantly the prop we used as reference was built by Nick Robatto.
A White LED inside a blue tinted plastic dome.
What if I damage any of the movement parts - can I send them back to you for repair?
Yes you can send it for repair, but any repairs would be charged for and could be costly.
Does it come with a stand? What is the stand made of?
The stand is a clear acrylic, which is designed to be as unobtrusive as possible. Positioned carefully, the stand is designed to give the impression that the sonic replica is floating.
What is the weight of the Sonic?
The sonic screwdriver with the packaging weighs just under 300gms
What material is it made of?
A variety of materials just like the originals but predominantly brass for the body with aluminium turned parts and acrylic neck and dome. The black cap is a nylon plastic.
Can I immerse it in water?
You shouldn’t as this will damage the batteries and possibly cause corrosion to the battery connections.
How robust is the Sonic - will it break easily?
It’s as robust as we can make it while still working within the confines of closely duplicating the original prop. There are elements to the design which we couldn’t improve on because this would alter the aesthetic of the prop. One of these is the paint finish.
The commercially available spray paints used to create the crackle effect on the body of the sonic screwdriver prop aren’t the most robust of paints and will wear down with excessive handling.
The original props are frequently stripped and re-painted. We did look around for alternatives but nothing gave the same effect or would be the same colour. On the toy version of the sonic screwdriver this problem has been avoided by casting the body section in a textured plastic that approximates a crackle finish but this approach just wouldn’t cut it on a replica such as the sonic screwdriver.
Ultimately, we have used the exact same paint and painting technique as the original prop and are simply making every effort to etch prime the brass body before painting and then seal it after, in order to reduce the risk of the paint rubbing off.
Why are the other replicas not available at the moment?
As we are only a small company we need to focus all our efforts on making the 500 Sonic Screwdrivers at this time and we simply don’t have the capacity to produce other replicas simultaneously.
