The new Davros was a silicone gel-filled prosthetic make-up, carefully applied every day by Millennium FX’s very own Neill Gorton. As this soft, flesh-like material is quite fragile it isn’t suitable for making display pieces with and consequently the replicas have been produced in urethane resin.

In order to achieve this, an original set of appliances was attached to a head cast of actor Julian Bleach, who played the Daleks’ leader Davros. This was then cast in wax to create a master tool from which exact copies of the head in make-up could be cast. Very minor cleaning up to blend the pieces was done by Neill himself, leaving the replicas as close to the original screen look as possible.

No Davros replica would be complete without the all metal head brace and the blue-glowing cybernetic eye in the middle of the forehead. A switch discretely located at the back of the neck powers up the eerie orbit. Four AA batteries are required (not included).

A new make-up appliance was created for each day Davros filmed and identical colours and painting methods are used on these replicas. For this reason there are always small variations between each replica just as there were on the original prosthetic appliances.
